The Black Bear

You would be surprised to know just how much a baby bear sounds like a baby human! Once, Paul was feeding a small bear, and the baby bear became upset and began to cry like her heart would break. As luck or fate would have it, the phone rang. My teenage daughter answered the phone and it was a security service calling to make an offer for insstallation of their service. Well the lady heard the bear , and thought the sound was baby! She started to interrogate my daughter as to what was wrong with (that child) who was harming (that baby! )Christa explained that though it was a baby she was hearing, it was not a baby human and no one was harming it. My husband had to talk to the lady on the phone to reassure her that all was OK. Still for a while after the call we expected the police to knock on the door.
Our twin sisters tried out life as performers, but they were just not fond of the spotlight. These two just seem to prefer the slower country life here at Rebel Oaks. Both of the girls are of coarse black bears but, as you may or may not know, the BLACK bear may come in black, red, or even rarely white in color.
Black bears are being seen more often in back yards and
raiding trash cans, even the back yard swimming pool or hot tub. These close encounters between man and bears are likely to increase, as people move out into rule areas that have been traditionally black bear habitat.
While you should NEVER approach , feed or attempt to interact with any wild animal especially one as large as a bear,
the black bear doesn't deserve the bad reputation attached to the brown bear of grizzly. People have been attacked and even killed by black bears, but as a whole they do not tend to be as aggressive as the grizzly.
